Ad08r vs ps4

Sep 14, 1. Struggling on which to go for, I will be doing track days and my wife will be driving the car most days for work but only a few miles a day.

I know both are totally different tyres but thinking its worth the extra outlay so that I don't need to buy anymore tyres for track days. Any recommendations? Sep 14, 2. TEV likes this. Sep 14, 3. I was in the same position but was considering nankang ns2r's as they have a much better wet rating than the Federals mentioned above. In the end I just went for some normal road tyres as figured it wasn't worth the risk.

Sep 14, 4. I'm on ns2r's at the moment. Great in the summer. Useless in the winter. PS4s going on in a month or two. Sep 14, 5.

You probably need 2 sets. The PS4 won't be great on track. And the semis not great with the wife not being sexist here. You might get away with 1 set of Yokohama MilosB likes this. Sep 14, 6.

AD08Rs are more than up to road and track, I've used them all year since May including a Ring trip and daily driving in Scottish weather. Perfectly capable. Stelongy and TimR26 like this. Sep 14, 7. To be fair to the Mrs she's not a bad driver so I'm not worried about her driving on the yoko's and if the weather is that bad she don't like driving on them then she can always use my car and ill take the megane to work.

Have Ns2rs Sep 14, 9.Now it is entirely possible to drive tracks on standard tyres, particularly if your car already comes fitted with high-performance tyres. Despite what you hear from the marketing people, all tyres are a tradeoff.

In this case, the quicker the tyre, the more specialised it is, the more expensive it is, and the less life you get. Pressures are set according to Yokohamas guide, which recommends 35psi hot.

In practice, this means I go out at 30psi, warm up, and then come in after a few laps and bleed the pressure back to On all subsequent sessions after the first one the first lap is a warmup as the tyres need a bit of time to start working again to best effect. Pretty good. Still life in them yet — grip levels remain good, no uneven wear, no melting, no blisters.

The stock tyres, Maxxes or R1Rs never looked that good after that much work. Grip levels are impressive too. In order to properly give a precise comparison of grip you need the same driver with the same car in the same conditions, back to back. The AD08Rs are used by the Clubsprint class in the World Time Attack series timed laps which is a good indicator that the tyres are designed for motorsport. I can report that they work well as a road tyre, certainly the grip is there and the noise level is about the same as the other tyres.

They grip well, handle nicely and are strong enough for the rigours of track driving.

DomV77 Original Poster 71 posts 27 months. Hey All, I'm looking for some new tyres for my MX5 however me choosing tyres is a nightmare. Yet it is classed as the alternative to the Michelin? Which would you choose and why? If you have either of these tyres, what are they like? Having used both, for me it's the PS4 by a country mile. The Michelins have no problems with this setup so I don't know why the Conti tyres felt so goppingly awful. Playing around with the pressures made no difference.

The Contis had grip, but it felt as though the tread moved around relative to the rim so much that the car would lurch into corners and feedback to the steering wheel was as vague as a politician's promise. I know that the trend is to thin and soft sidewalls to improve rolling resistance etc, but this took it to a whole new level. ACB85 82 posts 46 months. Felt wonderful, never found the limit in the dry. Needed to be doing anti-social speeds and beyond perhaps.

In the wet they communicated very nicely where the limit was, nice and progressive. I have these on my Focus ST mk3 and they are epic tyres.

Put them on before a road trip to Italy. Pirelli - are significantly better when warm, I think higher grip level than the Michelin once 'turned on'. Not tried in cold conditions yet Michelin - also at there best when warmed. However, did well even when cold, manageable with RWD in light snow Not exactly a fair test due to different drivetrains but I feel the Pirelli is more hardcore so suits the ST nicely.

If you want a slightly better all round tyre then can't go wrong with Michelin. I have PS4s on my Z4 and I think they're a fantastic tyre and if they're anything like the PS3s they replaced, incredibly well wearing - the PS3s on the back did 15k and the fronts 28k!

PS4 Pro vs PS4: what's the difference?

Truly like making grip where there shouldn't be any. The current one is on Contis but is 4wd, so I can't directly compare, but they're inoffensive in that they work adequately.

Not a review that you would expect from a tech site, but what the heck! I have reviewed the predecessor Pilot Sport 3 many years ago, and finally the true replacement for Pilot Sport series is out! I have not used any of those tyres before, so I can't make any comparison.

Pilot Sport 4 is completely different from Pilot Sport 3 claimed by Michelinand closely based on the high performance street tyre Pilot Super Sport which was only available from 18" and above. Unlike Pilot Sport 3, there's no Pilot Sport 4 made for 15" wheels, and only 2 sizes made for 16".

Is the PS4 Pro Worth It?

Even the 16" sizes were made exclusively for the ASEAN market as only 17" and above is available in other markets. Made in Thailand PS4 have "ST" label on the sidewall, which uses harder compound using different manufacturing process compared to the European counterpart.

Aesthetically, even with the Michelin Premium Touch Technology, the sidewall design doesn't really look aggressive, and with its relatively small shoulder blocks, it doesn't look all too different from their budget lineup XM2 tyres. The shoulder blocks have different sizes around the tyres without a consistent pattern, which is unusual, but it seems that most Michelins are using this design across the range.

The rim protector is also very shallow on mine, but since it's a relatively high profile tyre, I guess kerbing is not really an issue unless I'm kerbing it on purpose. The tread pattern is asymmetrical like all other high performance Michelin.

They are not direct competitors, but it would be interesting for keen enthusiast to stay with more street friendly tyres like PS4 or AD08R which is pretty close to semi slicks. In terms of grip, it has more than you will ever need without breaking the law. In the dry, the grip level is unbelievably close to the AD08R which is supposed to be on a different level.

However, I managed to lock my front brakes on a few occasions. I did not have the opportunity to test the adhesion in the wets, but hydroplaning is way ahead of AD08R during heavy downpour. It will also screech a lot more than AD08R at the limit. The sidewall is noticeably softer, however it doesn't skip over small bumps, which helps to maintain road contact over bridge gaps, minor undulation. This is important for street as the roads are usually not flat, but less critical on track or smoother road.

However, when performing hard cornering, sidewall flex can be felt, not even higher tyre pressure can help to reduce that. The steering response is not bad, but AD08R still has an edge. Both have treadwear rating of Pilot Sport 4 is a pretty impressive tyre, and it's still affordable at smaller sizesand quiet.

It is definitely a much better street tyre than AD08R.Use the following links to go directly to useful tirerack winter items: Tirerack Winter Tires. Using the links directly supports E90Post with tirerack sales commision! Remember Me?

I know my question is beat up already but i tried looking back at the forums and neer had a direct comparison of both.

The reason im asking is I need to replace my worn out rft this spring. Pros and cons of michelin pss? Pros and cons of Advan Neova AD08? I am a very aggressive street driver and will be tracking the car atleast once every 6 weeks. Thank you so much and I would appreciate all the post and information. Appreciate 0. Because the AD08s are extreme summer tires, they do not last as long, but do provide better grip when used for performance driving. If you are planning to track every 6 weeks, which equates to approximately 8 track days in the year, the AD08 would likely be the better overall tire especially if you want a more track oriented tire.

David summed that up nicely. The Michelins are a better suited for performance street driving, with the occasional track day, whereas the AD08 is a serious track tire that is street legal. It was a very very good information I am leaning towards the ad08 cause it has always been a dream to have that tire.

Every underground street racer has to have that back home. Now with what you said and considering im living in edmonton, alberta right now which makes dry season about 5 to 6 months in one year and track day would only be atleast 3 to 4 in a year, I have to reconsider my priorities and see if advan neova will still be the way to go.

If during track days you really feel that you have the need for more grip then by all means upgrade and switch to a stickier compound. Have fun!! One thing too that i cant take off in my mind was how the ad08 looks with its big shoulders and square look when mounted in the rim. One look and it really says something about how the car will be driven.

I have yet to see a PSS mounted to rim in person I've done autocross and spirited drives in my 19" and don't get nearly the traction I have on my AD I would run AD08 if they lasted longer. Overall very happy with the Michelin's for daily street driving. The pilot super sport aren't very good for the track if you are going to actually get some heat into them. Most game console comparisons invite a ton of differences.

With new technology, there is always more than meets the eye. This article can tell you how these two consoles measure against one another. PlayStation 4 Dimensions 10 inches x 11 inches x 1. Of course, to squeeze into a smaller shell, there often have to be sacrifices, but the only loss here is the optical audio port — all other ports and components, including the two USB 3. A very minor hardware update fixed these, adding better tactile buttons. The fix has been carried over to the Slim.

Finally, the DualShock 4 controller also received a minor redesign. The new DualShock 4 ships standard with the PS4 slim models. Both models are still sleek, slightly angular devices, with a matte black finish and understated PlayStation logos emblazoned on the case.

Both of these systems lack the special features of their more powerful sibling, the PS4 Pro — most notably 4K content. This is especially true during the holidays and periods such as Prime Day. At this point, you cannot find a brand-new launch version of the PS4. You can, however, find a preowned one for less than the PS4 Slim through resellers. The differences lie purely in the aesthetics of each device and their respective controller iterations.

In fact, unless you really care about having a smaller console — or, alternatively, require optical audio — the whole comparison is a wash. If you want to wait until later in the year, you can also purchase the PS5instead, which will be backward compatible with PS4.

Both these PS4 models play the same games, support the same peripherals, and give you access to the same PlayStation Store — but when it comes to the look and feel of the games you actually play, that's when picking one console or the other really matters. The PS4 Pro, the newer of the two consoles, is Sony's premium offering. It's a little more expensive, but that's because it uses slightly improved hardware to get better results in terms of performance — it's not the PS5but it's closer.

It's a huge step up from the PS3, with a whole new set of games, and is largely considered to be the winner in the current console wars with the Xbox One. Here we'll delve into the price, internals, graphics, VR performance and the rest to help you make your choice between the PS4 and PS4 Pro.

Knowing the difference between the two PS4 models can make all the difference during sales, as you'll be able to spot a genuine bargain much more easily.

One of the main differences when it comes to the PS4 vs PS4 Pro question is resolution: whereas the original PS4 is limited to p, the newer PS4 Pro can go as high as p — or 4K, as it's more commonly known.

However, games need to have been specifically updated to take advantage of the 4K on the PS4 Pro — you can see a comprehensive list of older games that have been updated here. Ultimately it's up to game developers themselves to issue those patches and make the most of the more powerful hardware that the PS4 Pro offers. If there's no PS4 Pro mode in the game, then you can't get true 4K resolutions.

The good news is that, going forward, all new PS4 games have to include a 'Pro Mode', enabling them to make the most of the Pro's enhanced hardware. It's also worth bearing in mind that even if an older game hasn't had the PS4 Pro patch, it's still probably going to look better on the more expensive console. Don't forget that in order to see 4K HDR graphics in all their glory on your PlayStation 4 Pro, you're going to need a 4K HDR TV to match — an older p screen won't see much of a benefit, apart from a few extra frames here and there.

Textures in Spider-Man on PS4 Pro are significantly clearer than they are on the regular PS4, for example — Insomniac the game's developer has done a great job optimizing the game for PS4, but playing it on a Pro is the far superior experience check out the video we've embedded above.

As far as physical looks go, the most obvious difference between the original PS4 and the PS4 Pro is the addition of an extra layer on top of the console. Thankfully this hasn't lead to too much of an increase in its dimensions. The original PS4 measures That means it's slightly bigger, it's 2 cm deeper and 2 cm wider, but interestingly it's more or less the same height.

It's also half a kilogram heavier, or just over a pound, though that shouldn't bother you too much unless you're lugging it from one room to the next. If you're planning a jump into virtual reality, then the PS4 Pro might be the way to go.

Unlike the slimmer PS4 currently on sale, the PS4 Pro does include an optical audio output on its rear, just like the original launch PS4 from The final difference between the ports on the back of the console is the HDMI port.

This is a particularly sore spot for Sony's latest system. Sony's decision to omit a Ultra-HD Blu-ray drive from the system is puzzling, considering that Blu-ray support was one of the major boons of the PS3.

Now, Sony might be saving that for another console down the road Meanwhile the GPU has seen a much bigger performance increase. Its power has been doubled, and its clock-speed has been boosted from MHz to MHz. In total the GPU has jumped from 1. This bump is in order to accommodate the new 4K functionality.
